Small Size R & S Experimentals

Dated Series 1935A, R & S Experimental Notes took the form of $1 Silver Certificates with a notable difference:  A distinctive additional red letter “R” or “S” was added to each of the notes.  These experimental notes were produced with different pulp and fiber types to examine the durability and availability of paper money during World War II.  The lettering is short for “Regular” and “Special.”
